St.Xavier’s Middle School Lupungutu is located in Sadar Chaibasa, West Singhbhum , Jharkhand. St.Xavier’s Primary School was started in a simple way in 1956 at Butha village with one teacher and 30 students. The school was established by Chaibasa parish in the year 1st January 1958. In 1964 the school was shifted into three rooms in Lupungutu which is the sub-station of Chaibasa parish. This school was recognized by the Bihar Education Department in 1964 as a primary school with 150 students. The primary school was upgraded to Middle school in 1978 with 420 students.. The present school building was constructed in 1978 by the Jesuits of Xavier Chiabasa and the administration of the school was given to the Sisters of Charity of Nazareth on 1st June 1998.

The Jesuits of Jamshedpur Province transferred St. Xavier’s Middle School, Lupungutu to the Sisters of Charity of Nazareth on 1st, April 2010. At present the school is catering to 1038 children hailing from nearly 40 villages of three blocks of Chaibasa, West Singhbhum, Jharkhand.

Activities and Celebrations :

This school is catering to the children of “Ho “ tribe who come from nearly 40 villages of Sadar Chaibasa block, West Singhbhum district. . The school organizes various activities such as elocution, poster making, rangoli making, essay writing competition, debate competition, class wise parents meeting, participating in inter school sports events, students taking turn in conducting daily assembly which will enable the students to be leaders, forming school leadership team, reading daily newspaper during the morning assembly, conducting health awareness classes by the teachers, celebrating national days such as Independence day, Republic day and conducting various sports activities such as running race, khokho, kabbadi.
